Baby Gates

Baby Gates is a six week program for parents and their new babies (approx. 0-9 months old) covering a range of topics to help you adjust and grow in your new role. Sessions run for six consecutive weeks over a term on a Thursday morning from 10am-11.30am.
At the end of each block of sessions we will run a short, three week course called “Hope Explored” which you will be invited to come along to if you wish; this is an opportunity to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

Each session is outlined below:

1. Parenting - An informal session where we will discuss aspects of parenting such as bonding and expectations. We will use videos and information produced by experts in child psychology to learn about bonding, as well as providing an opportunity for questions and discussion about the ups and downs of life with a baby.

2. Looking After your Baby’s Health - Lead by a paediatric nurse. This will include resuscitation and dealing with choking, as well as the opportunity to discuss minor injuries and illness.

3. Learn Through Play - Learn how your child develops through the medium of play! Fun and informative, this session will give you practical ideas of ways to help your child learn, just by playing with them.

4. Exercise and Physical Wellbeing - Exercise is so important in keeping you and your young family happy and healthy but can often feel difficult and overwhelming with a baby. In this session, our Pelvic Health Physiotherapist will get you moving with a short and gentle exercise class, along with plenty of advice and ideas for improving your physical health after having a baby.

5. Mental Wellbeing - Having a baby turns our life upside down, often having an impact on our mental health and relationships. In this session we will discuss practical ways to help protect our mental wellbeing.

6. Nutrition - Weaning can feel like a confusing and scary time. In this session you’ll get information on the practicalities of introducing solids, as well as ideas for quick and easy meals and snacks for you and your family. We can also discuss questions around breast and bottle feeding, but may refer you on to a different service for any concerns with this.

The first block of sessions will run from 15th September 2022.
